The weights may be a little off from yesterday’s reading as we’ve had to move over to the other scales and they only read in 10g intervals. The new way involves putting a sleeping puppy in a pillow case and using fish / luggage scales to weigh the contents of the pillow case. As long as the puppy stays still for a second or two, as luggage normally would, you can get a reading. If the puppy wakes up and starts wriggling then it’s anybody’s guess and if your luggage did that you would almost certainly get stopped in customs.
We have our first kilogram puppy. Bossanova is doing very well having gained 80g to reach 1kg. Beethoven added 80g to reach 970g, Bumble and Boadicea both added 76g to reach 990g and 880 g respectively and Britannia slowed her eating frenzy to add 42g taking her to 980. We are still running 5 days ahead of the best weight of last year and a full week ahead when comparing the lowest weights. They really are moving out of the guinea pig phase into the puppy phase which is lovely to watch.
If you watch them on the webcam, you will see that the pigment on their noses and feet has started to come through. They’ve got funny little black splodges developing. Their paws are starting to look more like paws now too.
Shadow is being fantastic and is clearly very fond of them all. She’s a great mum and it’s so nice that this year she is feeling well enough to enjoy them to the full.
