Wednesday 3rd October 2012 – The scans are booked

I know it’s not real news, but it’s the best I can do at the moment. The girls have been booked in for their ultrasound scans on Tuesday 23rd October. By that time Shadow will be at least five weeks pregnant and Megan about 4 and a half weeks. Hopefully that will be long enough for the vet to confirm if there are puppies. It’s nice for the girls to be able to do every stage of the process together. Megan is glad of the experience that Shadow has. Of course another day has passed and my Mistress has still not retrieved he whelping box from the summerhouse. To be honest she is not feeling at her best this week and doesn’t want to be disturbed. I said she was already disturbed but that didn’t go down too well. I’m now glad that as a dog I have never been tempted to try drinking coffee. It seems that it is not as good for you as you might have thought. Although, my Mistress says it is only the lack of it that is not good for her.

Aristotle is fed up as he has to go swimming today. He’s missed a couple of weeks with the girls being away and he’d hoped that my Mistress might have forgotten to rearrange it. Of course she hasn’t forgotten! He knows it’s for his own good, but he’s a bit like me and doesn’t really like being in water. Mind you he’s not completely like me – you wouldn’t get me in however hard you tried.

My Mistress does not like autumn. She wants to live somewhere warmer, drier and with blue rather than grey skies. She hates that the hope of summer has passed and we can only look forward to colder weather for the next few months. She is seriously considering hibernation but I pointed out she’d need to be around for the puppies so that plan is out of the window.
