My Mistress has various food allergies and intolerances. With the help of the hospital she is now doing something called an elimination diet and today is day 1. You may wonder why that is such a problem for the rest of the household. Well, apart from the fact she will be eating different things to everyone else for a while it means at the outset she cannot have coffee. Not any coffee at all. If you know my Mistress you will realise that that cannot be a good thing. She has tried to reduce her intake so that today does not come as too much of a problem, but I saw her yesterday when she only had one mug all day and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Today she will have none. In fact she will have none for at least ten days. That is a long time for her to be without caffeine. She says she hasn’t done that for more than half her lifetime and frankly seeing the relief on her face in a morning when she has her first coffee in her hands, I can well believe it. I have explained to Ari that until we see how she copes he should be a quiet well behaved puppy and not see if he can deliberately wind her up. However, I saw the glint in his eye and I think he can see sport ahead. All I can say is that with this one, I don’t want to be around to see the reaction!
My Mistress is off out to the store room to bring in the whelping boxes later to see what extra parts she may need. I don’t think that her first day without coffee is the day to try to remember how to assemble the whelping box. I shall be hiding under the duvet upstairs.
