Thursday 9th August 2012 – So proud of the little fellow

Aristotle is just the most amazing little fellow ever, but then you knew that already. He went for his first swimming lesson yesterday and I think it’s fair to say that everyone fell in love with him. He was so good and didn’t behave badly once. He wasn’t really sure about going in the water and he was very scared, but despite that he did everything that was asked of him and after a rather shaky start, in which he hadn’t understood the need to keep his mouth and nose out of the water, he was swimming quite well towards the end of the session. Initially he was much more keen to swim down the pool to my Mistress than to swim away from her, but he soon got the hang of collecting the toy on his way back down the pool and taken it back to the ramp so he could have a rest. He was good as gold with the hairdryer when he got out too and then came home and went straight to sleep. He was only half way through telling me about it and fortunately had reached the suggestion that I should try it, when he fell sound asleep in the middle of a sentence. The fortunate bit was that I didn’t have to admit that he’s a lot braver than me and you wouldn’t get me in water in a million years. I was somewhat put out when my Mistress suggested that it would be a great idea if we could all find somewhere we could go swimming together. If she manages to then I will have to be out that day, as I will not be going in water! From the point of view of her swimming with Ari, it’s a shame we aren’t living in the house in Belgium with the swimming pool anymore. That was so wasted on me! In the meantime he will have to make do with going next week, but I don’t think he will be reluctant at all. I think he’s already rather looking forward to it.

  1. Roooo that looks like so much fun and it will be so good for the little guy to be able to get some proper exercise with that bad leg of his. I’m teaching my little sister Bella how to swim on Sunday – I don’t think she’ll have a cool life jacket like that though! *waggy tail*
