I bet you never thought you’d hear a dog say that. It’s just not fair. You run after the ball, you make Shadow pick the ball up, you run back and before you can stop another ball has gone off down the garden. Do you think if I promise to stop ganging up on Amigo then I could be excused from the next ball game? I’m getting old, well middle aged. I’m not as fit as I used to be and I simply do not want to play ball. It could just be sour grapes because I’m always the one bringing up the rear while the young guns are way out in front. It could just be that I don’t like ball and I am too lazy to want that much exercise.
I looked at myself in the mirror earlier and to be honest, I’m feeling the strain. There is only so much I should have to deal with at my age. Sure, I’m about the same age as my Mistress and she seems to keep going, but I’m a dog and I deserved a dignified place to take a nap when I want to and not to be forced to run up and down after a pointless spherical object. What is the point in my having a business named after me which sells short stories to read at my leisure if I’m not being given any leisure in which to read them? I want to put my paws up. I want to read stories about other dogs, who are heroes. I want to live vicariously, not have to do it all for myself. Yes, of course I’ll miss him when he moves out, but enough is enough I want to be an only dog right now!

Oh Dear Alfie,
Had a tiring day did we buddy? I’m trying really hard to understand, but I’m just a young pup and it’s difficult…… I’m always up for playing, but maybe one day I’ll just want to loll around and read books too 🙂
I hope you get some nice chill time 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Its a shame I don’t lie closer and I could have taken your place in the ball games! *waggy tail*
I’m with you there buddy. Torrey loves to play fetch, but I would rather watch and cheer.
