Thursday 1st March 2012 – An odd day

Normally these days my Mistress works from home. We like it that way. It hasn’t always been like that. She used to have a real job and go to an office every day and be paid at the end of the month like most other people. Now, she works for herself and does all sorts of odd things, but I digress. This morning much to Ari’s surprise as he’s never seen it happen before, she got up really early and didn’t put on her dog clothes. Those of you who see my Mistress regularly will be aware that muddy paw prints are standard decoration for her clothing, pyjamas and dressing gown included. Today she put clean, pawprint free clothing on and left the house without feeding us or getting us up. That last bit has nothing to do with neglect, I wouldn’t have appreciated getting up at that time. She had a train to catch and James was fully briefed on getting us up and feeling us and then our friend Avril is coming to look after us for the day, which is a bonus as she spoils us all. In the meantime my Mistress has caught a train and gone to do a real day’s work in London and won’t be back until tonight. I said that we dogs should surprise her by cooking her dinner and having it ready on the table for when she comes home, but there may be one or two weaknesses with my suggestion, not least being the fact we’d probably have eaten it!

I think I may have told you that she is starting a new short story download site on the internet. As she’s out for the day I asked if she would like me to read all the stories that are being submitted for the project as they seem to come in almost hourly, but she said she thought it would be all right to leave them for her to catch up on over the weekend. The project is going really well and we’ve got some great authors and wonderful stories on board. I’ll tell you more about it nearer the time.
