Wednesday 25th January 2012 – Computers, don’t you just love them?

It’s going to be one of those days. I’ve got a great long list of things to do and the computer is playing up. It all started a couple of days ago when it restarted of its own accord. Never a good sign in a computer, when it starts to have a mind of its own! My Mistress told me to run all the clean up routines and as a dutiful dog that is exactly what I have set about doing. The problem now is that it seems to have hung mid clean up, stuck in a sort of loop. In truth the problem is probably that I got impatient and tried to close the programme to restart the computer so I could get on. That was the point at which it warned me that if I forced that particular programme to close there was going to be trouble. Now it won’t show me where it has got to and won’t stop running and I daren’t turn it off. It means that as I’m working everything I do keeps freezing and I have to wait for it to catch up and I have a horrible fear that it is going to lose everything I do. I think I should probably tell my Mistress what I’ve done but I’m worried I’ve done the wrong thing, so I’m going to quietly sit here for a while pretending to work and hope that it all sorts itself out before I have to confess.

I know I was supposed to be letting Ari write the diary today, but with the computer problems I didn’t think it was fair. I did think about letting him do it and then looking over his shoulder, gasping and saying in a loud voice ‘Ari, what have you done?’  But to be honest that seemed a bit mean and you know what it’s like with the youngsters of today, sometimes they know so much about computers that they can hit a few buttons and prove it was your fault!
