Wednesday 28th January 2015 – Where has January gone?

I cannot believe that it is nearly the end of January. Usually I have to put up with our Mistress singing the old song by Pilot about how long the month seems, but she hasn’t resorted to that at all. It might be because we haven’t had a normal winter that it all seems different. I don’t want to wish my life away, but I’ll still be glad when spring arrives and we might have the chance of a bit more warmth and sunshine. It’s the dull days and the mud that I don’t like. At least when it is icy the mud doesn’t come up to my knees. Even Ari stayed in bed yesterday morning and didn’t get up until about 11. He’d been up and had his breakfast but then went back to bed and stayed out of the way. It made it lovely and quiet for the rest of us – but strange. You only realise how much life he brings to the place when he’s being quiet and still.

It was my turn to go swimming yesterday. I didn’t really feel up to it, but at least I got to wear my new coat when I came out, so it wasn’t all bad.

I did measure Shadow yesterday and it is inconclusive. One of the measurements did seem to be more, but it could be how she was standing. I think we’d have been better weighing her each week, but it is very hard to get her to stand on our Mistress’s scales. Friday is going to be such an important day for us. If she isn’t pregnant I may get to see my girlfriend again this weekend, which is such an exciting thought. However, if Shadow’s pregnant apparently what she wants comes first and she will be spoilt rotten!
