Life is settling back into the old routine, except for the fact that Shadow is still nice and mellow which is always a pleasure. As long as she is pregnant we can enjoy this situation for a while, but woe betides the dog who crosses her once her hormones go back to normal! I don’t plan for it to be me, that’s for sure.
The main objective of the morning is for Aristotle to pit his wits against the biscuit dispenser. I’m backing him all the way, not because I think he is clever and I’m on his side, but because I’ve worked out that if I stay sitting near the dispenser then sooner or later he will find the button in another room and not get back before I eat the biscuit. I realise that may interfere with his overall training and development, but it’s a price I’m willing to pay in order to get to the biscuit first. I’m also assuming that our Mistress will ensure that Ari does get a reward when he gets it right as otherwise it defeats the object of the exercise, so I see it as a win:win situation. Our Master has expressed some concern, not about Ari learning to use it, but about whether he might be next. He says he has visions of having to find the button when he comes home from work to be allowed to have his dinner. Our Mistress hadn’t thought of doing that, but now he has mentioned it she may put it into action. More to the point she says she is thinking of other triggers, like doing the washing up or tidying up after himself. As long as no one gets any ideas about my having to work for my dinner I’ll be all right.
