Thursday 1st January 2015 – Happy New Year

A very happy new year to all our Readers from both me and Aristotle.

Our Mistress has made some resolutions on Aristotle’s behalf, but fortunately she seems to have overlooked making any for me. Aristotle has to learn to fetch a blanket and a telephone when asked to. He says it will be no problem, but that remains to be seen. For my part I’m just resolving to get my next book out on time and to keep writing my diary for you all. Shadow says she is trying to resolve to be pregnant, but I don’t think there is much she can do about it apart from be careful and put her paws up.

We celebrated the New Year quietly at home while our Master and Mistress went out without us. It’s not that we wanted to go to the pub. It was more that we wanted them at home with us. Ah well. Maybe they’ll do that next year.

Our Mistress is now taking her learning German even more seriously. She has bought the biggest dictionary I have ever seen as well as one to have on her iPhone. She also has a children’s book to read and a book on dog training that was a present from her friends in Switzerland. Now she’s downloaded Grimm’s fairytales in German for her Kindle so she can read stories she knows in German too. I think it was having to try to communicate with the man from the car breakdown company that finally made her realise that she wanted to be much more fluent by the next time she went over there. She said it was the sort of situation where not being able to say everything she wanted to was quite concerning. The biggest problem was when she came back via France and could not string a sentence together in French. All she could think of was German. I don’t think she’s ever going to be multi-lingual.
