Wednesday 3rd September 2014 – The downside of an early start

My Mistress got up and made an early start on her work yesterday. I wasn’t bothered as it didn’t require me to do any more than change which bed I was sleeping in. However, it did mean that by lunchtime she had totally run out of energy and was tempted to go back to bed for the afternoon. She didn’t actually give in to the temptation, which was a shame. She should learn more by observing our routines. Her justification was to clear her desk for today when she is taking both Shadow and Aristotle to have their eyes tested. I’m happy as it means I get a relatively quiet day and will get all the fuss from my Mistress’s friend to myself. I’m also pleased as it looks as though Shadow is pretty much back to being fit and healthy and therefore it is likely I will still be going to Switzerland as planned. I found my Mistress looking online at trips that go on a train up the Jungfrau. I took one look at the photographs of the ‘station’ at the top, which looked way to precariously balanced and said that nothing was going to get me going on that! To be fair, my Mistress had very rapidly reached the same conclusion. I have agreed to go to see the Matterhorn. That should be within my limits as long as we are looking at it from the bottom. I don’t think we can go by car so I’ll be travelling by train which I haven’t done for a long time. The last one I went on was a steam train, but that is not a comment on how long ago it was, simply that we visited a steam train. I didn’t like the loud noise it made when it let off steam, but I’m guessing the ones in Switzerland won’t be steam.
