My Mistress was very excited as she had spent all day yesterday doing her research in the museum she had specifically gone to visit. There was a point before she went when it looked like the museum might be closed and another point where the outgoing curator said she thought it would be a waste of time, but my Mistress can only conclude that that last comment was more that she was glad she was leaving and was a little jaded with her post. The new curator started on Tuesday so is only just settling in, but to be honest my Mistress was just as happy finding her own way around.
She says it is funny being in small town mid-west America – it is like stepping in to a film set. It’s exactly how you would imagine it to be and feels very odd. There was a more anxious moment when she realised the disused train tracks that she had just driven over were not quite as disused as she thought, they simply did not have gates! She tried to find another way round them, but without a big detour she can’t do it. She is just going to have to look right and left… and right and left and right and left!
When she got back to the car it was so hot that she didn’t even want to touch the steering wheel. It’s about 30 degrees outside and it was far higher than that in the car. She was glad to get back to her air-conditioned hotel room especially as there are thunder storms approaching for this evening. It was too hot to go for a walk anyway. Besides which after about 5pm there is not a great deal to do – she has considered going round Walmart but as she doesn’t want to buy anything it would be a little pointless.
D’Artagnan says thank you for asking after him (He’s getting quite a fan club!) he had a lovely day in bed and says he may go to the museum tomorrow.
