Saturday 26th April 2014 – Not a good week for dog breeding

After the awful news that Addie can’t have puppies because she has developed cataracts we are now worried things may not work out for Megan either. She has had a follow up progesterone test and the level has dropped. That is not supposed to happen. She is being all loving and gentle which is a good sign but she was like that when she had her first false pregnancy so we have given up hoping that is a good sign.  She will have another progesterone test next week but if it keeps falling then there is no possibility of her being pregnant. Please send positive thoughts in her direction, not only do we want her to be pregnant but it is clear that Megan wants to be a mum too and it is so hard to accept when these things can’t happen. I know she and I don’t see eye to eye but I wouldn’t wish that on her for anything.

We’ve come so far in the last 5 years. Our numbers have gone from 10 to 51. It’s a good job that my Mistress doesn’t give up easily and is determined that one way or another we will end up with more of us in the UK.

On a brighter note we received some lovely pictures from Otto (Chekov) of his meeting with his sister Cracker and half-sister Soggeli (Annette). They were having a lovely time playing on the beach at Sidmouth. It made my Mistress wish very much that she could have been there to see them all.  They are all doing very well and growing up into lovely dogs. Cracker is not an enthusiast of going in the car but then neither was her mother when she was small and now she travels all over Europe without so much as a peep.
