Shadow does not like to be the same as every other dog. Her temperature is stable but it is lower than that of most dogs and only just in the ‘normal range’. At times like this it is confusing because some of the books say that is the range which is the start of when you know the temperature is dropping and the puppies are on the way. However, it isn’t dropping – it’s stable. Last year Shadow’s temperature was all over the place and my Mistress gave up taking it in the end as it didn’t seem to be telling her anything. This year she is religiously testing it three times a day first thing in the morning, mid afternoon and last thing at night. She did say she could take mine for a comparison, but I declined her kind offer.
Aristotle got off to kennels ok. He didn’t want to go and my Mistress was upset as it will be the longest they have ever been apart and the first time he’s been in on his own. Thank you to Dickens for his good wishes, Aristotle appreciated them and said he would try to be brave. His usual approach is to find himself a girlfriend so I shouldn’t imagine he’ll be feeling lonely and homesick for long.
Having shopped around to find some nice wood for the fire with a really low moisture content, it was going to be delivered during the storms yesterday afternoon and probably would have had a moisture content of much more than when it left the depot. However, the poor man who was going to deliver it fell and broke his leg so it didn’t get delivered at all. We just hope he’s ok. Not a great way to spend Christmas.
