In the last couple of days I have found the strength to argue back with Aristotle and at least stand my ground. He’s been taking a leaf out of Megan’s book, but as I pointed out to him, he and I have to go on living together and as he will have realised my position in this establishment is secure. I’ve even curled up on the settee with him like in the old days, before he got too big for his boots. He was a little quiet and said he was fed up that his girlfriend was leaving and had been taking it out on me. I suppose I can see his point. He and Megan have always been close so he is going to find it hard. He’s going to find it hard when we introduce a new puppy too and he is no longer the baby of the pack. I’ve already teased him because he seems to be getting his first grey hairs, but he just shrugged and said it was nothing.
Shadow is being quite cute and serene. I think she’s looking forward to being a mum again. I’m sure if she could do it she’d be starting to knit little bonnets and bootees ready for them arriving. She’s quite pleased as she’s suddenly realised they will be around to share her birthday next year. Apart from Aristotle it will be the first time she’s been able to share her birthday with some of her children.
It has reached that time of year where there are days that are just plain dismal. I do wonder how they manage right up in the arctic circle with part of the year that never really gets light. I’m glad I don’t live up there. This is as far north as I ever want to live.
