That’s what it says on the bowl that Ari chose in the pet shop yesterday – ‘The Dog Father’. I think he’s got ideas above his station. He’s definitely the youngest of our pack and from my observation in no position to be a father either now or any time in the future. He wanted to have the tub of pigs ears instead and wouldn’t really look at the things he was supposed to be looking at. He did persuade our Mistress to buy a bag of bacon strips for us all to share so we did quite well out of his birthday too.
You would have laughed if you’d seen our Mistress when she took Meg out for a walk yesterday. She was unrecognisable. Having got completely caught out by the heavy rain the other week she has no intention of getting particularly wet again. She had her leggings on and full length wax coat, done right up to the neck and her big brimmed wax hat. If you didn’t know that it was her underneath it all you would never have guessed. On the other paw she does find people recognise her by the dogs. Even complete strangers have come up to her to ask if she’s the person who writes in the dog papers.
There’s a treasure hunt in the village this weekend. I’ve asked if I can go but I don’t think I’m going to be able to. My Master and Mistress said that at most one of us can go and I think it will be either Aristotle of Shadow. I’ve lived in the village longer than either of them I’m sure I would be better at it. It’s just I can be more grumbly whereas they are both happy to meet anyone and everyone. I just like the people I already know.
