Yesterday was another exciting day but fortunately for good reasons rather than bad ones. We went from the boatyard to Bruges. There are a series of bridges you have to go through and then we joined a much bigger canal where we travelled behind the biggest commercial barge I’ve ever seen. It was massive. The good thing was that it meant all the bridges were lifted for us as we arrived and we had a really easy journey. It was a lovely sunny day. The sort of day that shows places at their best. There was one bridge that was really weird as it swings up sideways so you can see all the road carriageways at a 90 degree angle to where you are. It was quite a big road and the cars had to wait for ages. My Mistress said that she felt she was getting her own back for all the times we were in the car and had to wait for the ships to go through.
Sadly, my Mistress’s friend went home yesterday. We were all a little bit sad to see her go. She was great fun when it came to I spy and charades. My Mistress is trying to persuade everyone to play the board game she’s brought with her but I think she might be fighting a losing battle.
I’m now counting down the hours to seeing my Mum. We’re seeing them tomorrow. My Mistress told them Bruges but as it turns out I think it will be Gent. I do hope that my Mistress rings to let them know where we’ll be. It would be awful if we weren’t in the same place.
