Saturday midday

It’s raining again. The puppies are going to think that it rains all the time the way it’s going. Mind you, thinking about it they wouldn’t be far wrong.

Tucker has worked out that if he asks nicely for a cuddle then my Mistress can’t resist. Dickens needs his own duvet as at every opportunity he gets underneath the blanket. Basil is still heavily into redesigning the pen. Poor Tess is trying to sleep with her brothers accidentally running over her as they play, while little Beija is happily playing with the toys on her own.

We have our first 4kg puppy. Dickens is now 4040g, up by 80g from yesterday. Tucker was weighed but my Mistress was too busy giving him a cuddle and forgot to write his weight down. It was definitely up! Tess added 140g to reach 3840g. Basil added 200g to reach 3740g and Beija added 190g to reach 3600g. It won’t be long before they are 10x their birth weights. That’s a scary rate of progress. It really is wonderful to watch how quickly they develop. I think my Mistress is planning to get my Master to take her photo with each of them tomorrow in the same way she did with last year’s litter. She will put together an album again to remember what each litter was like.

They are having their microchips fitted next week. Taking all five of them to the vet is a major operation, but my Mistress says it will still be easier than it was yesterday taking both Megan and Aristotle. Megan needed her rabies update and Ari needed his kennel cough. Both my Mistress and the vet had to pin Ari to the floor in order to get anywhere near his nose. He’s a very strong little boy and when he decides he doesn’t want something then it takes a lot of ‘persuasion’ to change his mind!
