Oh the excitement. When my Mistress weighs each puppy she checks it over to see how it’s doing and looks to see if any eyes have opened and this morning, for the first time two puppies were looking back at her. They looked as though they might be a little unfocussed but the first eyes to open are Bossanova’s left eye and Boadicea’s right eye. I’m sure it won’t be very long before they all follow suit but that’s our starting point.
Most of the puppies had much smaller weight gains yesterday. Bumble and Bossanova now weigh 1240g, Britannia is 1230g and Beethoven is 1190g, so all fairly close together. The biggest weight gain of those was Bumble with 50g. And whereas, yesterday, Boadicea was 120g less than the next lightest, she had a really good day and added 70g making her 1110g and only 80g behind the next lightest. She said she really appreciated being given a little time not to have to fight her way to the front of the queue and said, please, if it wasn’t too much trouble could my Mistress give her a hand today as well.
The other change that is starting to take place is that they are doing a bit of practicing on using their legs in between sleeping and feeding. The rate they are going it won’t be very long before they are ready to start playing for a few minutes before falling down asleep.
