Was it only just over a week ago that there was plenty of space for five little puppies to fit in a row along Shadow for feeding times? Now they are little raptors pushing and shoving to get in the line. Thankfully, Shadow is still doing well for milk and they are happily sucking until they are full. They end up little barrel shapes. If you have been watching the puppy cam you will realise they now feed for rather longer but have much longer intervals between meals. It can be hard to persuade Shadow to stay with them until they’ve finished when she can hear other things going on in the house.
At this age if you were hand rearing them you would be feeding about every 3 hours. Shadow is feeding them about hourly which is probably why they are gaining so well. It does mean now that there are much bigger gaps for her to find out what is happening in the world and go out for slightly longer walks. They are going to be well and truly ready to move up to their playpen the way they are going. In fact their box could seem much too small long before the end of next week. Of course the way they are going they will have climbed out and gone off to build the pen themselves.

Hello Alfie, So sorry to hear you have another injury. I think your plan of staying out of harms way is the best idea for the time being. How is the weather where you live? We have heard on the news there is flooding in York which is not too far from you.
