Ready for the heat

The temperature is going up again and this time Aristotle says he’s ready for the heat. He has promised faithfully not to spend too long out in the sun, even if Mum does leave the doors open for us. He’s got his cool coat and cool mat ready and has talked to Mum about where he wants his air-conditioning unit putting. The ‘small’ problem with his air-conditioning unit is that it is described as portable, but weighs in at about 35 to 40kg. Now, I don’t know how strong you are, but Mum seems to think that doesn’t make it very portable. That wouldn’t be a problem if Ari didn’t keep changing his mind.

All about doors

Today is all about doors. A strange thing to be told is for you when you’re a dog, but that is the case. Our house is odd. I don’t think Mum would really mind me saying that. There are some things about it that are definitely not normal. For example, none of the bathrooms had doors on when we moved in. We dogs don’t see that as an issue, but apparently it is abnormal for humans. Today the last of those is put right by the installation of a door on the ensuite in Mum and Dad’s bedroom. Theirs would be slightly less of an issue if you couldn’t see straight into it from the garden.

Why for us?

The bathroom isn’t for us, but the kitchen is. Our kitchen has double doors between that and the hall. There are several problems with them. Firstly, they don’t meet in the middle. Secondly they don’t have any handles. Finally, they don’t have any fittings to keep them closed. They worked fine until we realised that they didn’t either keep us in or out if we chose to push them. Then they really ceased to serve any function of being a barrier.

Of course, we don’t want a barrier, but if we bark when Mum is on the phone or go mad when the doorbell rings, even I can see there are occasions when Mum might prefer to be the other side of a door from us. That’s why she says the work being done on them is for us. We either have them fixed or learn to behave and one of those isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

Love
