Rest In Peace Alfie
Today we are pausing to say rest in peace Alfie. You were our guiding light and we will miss you. To the very many of you who sent your messages of sorrow and support yesterday, thank you. They meant a great deal to us all. To those who lit a candle at the time of his passing, thank you. We will treasure that thought. He left this world peacefully at about 4.20pm with Mum by his side and Dad on the screen from Switzerland. Our vet took good care of him. Once he’d crossed the Rainbow Bridge we each went in to say our goodbyes. We will all grieve.
Final meal
Alfie’s final meal was of course steak. He had a rather nice one almost all to himself. Mum saved just one tiny piece for each of us for after we’d said farewell. I think he enjoyed it very much.

As these are exceptional times I asked Mum if she would like to write her thoughts for you all. She wrote this yesterday. I think it is a fitting tribute.
A Farewell to Alfie from his Mistress
When I was a child I was not allowed a dog. Instead I dreamed of what the perfect dog would be to me. As an adult, I have been privileged to share my life with that dog. When we curled up together his heart beat and breathing synchronised with mine. Two hearts beat as one.
Today, I’ve lost my soul mate and best friend. I thank God for every day I’ve known you and you will live on in my heart forever.
You inspired me to develop your breed in the UK. You inspired me to write books in your name. You gave your name to my publishing company. You have been at the heart of my blog since your arrival. I will strive to continue all those things in your honour. You have brought happiness to thousands of people around the world and will be much missed.
One day, hopefully many years from now, I will see you again on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I know you will wait for me as you always have.
