Well done Buddy – Sunday 8th March 2020

Well done Buddy

We need to start by saying well done Buddy (Alfie Bangwood) for his win of Best of Breed for our breed at Crufts yesterday. It’s the second time he’s won Best of Breed which is pretty good going. Then he went on into the working group in the big ring. He was against all the other working breed winners and boy did he do himself and his human proud. Not only did he look wonderful, but they were called out into the final selection. What an achievement. It was pretty good for Swiss breeds as while with the Bernese and the St Bernard getting to the same stage. Anyway, although he didn’t win the Group, he did marvellously well for our breed. He and his human do such a good job for the breed in the show world.

Mum has promised that I can have another go next year. I’ve said that if she will take me to a show to qualify then I promise to try really hard to do all the right things when we’re there. She really isn’t very good at showing and then when I cause trouble too, I can see it all gets a bit stressful. It’s not that I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, it’s just that sometimes it’s more fun to do something else.

Hokey Cokey

Mum thinks Alfie was trying to do the Hokey Cokey (in out in out) on Friday night. When she got into bed, he immediately decided it was time to go outside again. He didn’t do it once. He did it six times. By the end of it Mum’s temper was a little frayed and she had to put him on his one lot of medication that she hadn’t yet put him back on. It wasn’t even as though he actually needed the toilet when he did go out. It just shows you how hard dementia can be. He had no idea what it was all about. Mum had no idea. He’s been fine since so I suppose we’ll never know. It does help me to understand why I’m having to sleep in the office. I guess if I’d been reacting every time he asked to go out then no one would have got any sleep.
