Dexter
Well I’m saying goodbye to Dexter and sending him off to his new home. Yesterday was as much puppy as I need for the time being. Mum had asked me to keep an eye on him in the car, but that was easier said than done. He said his goodbyes in Switzerland and then felt a bit worried about everything. We’d only been travelling for about forty minutes when he said he wasn’t feeling very well and thought he was going to be sick. Mum had to wait for a service station to stop and it turned out he wasn’t joking. By the time we stopped, he’d already been sick. He was very good and apologised. Mum cleaned up and got him out to go to the toilet. Then she reassured him everything was ok and he calmed down after that.
Lots of stops
We had lots of stops so he could get out for pee breaks and to get a bit of fresh air. He was very good and always went to the toilet when he was told to. He didn’t really pee in his crate except just a bit of excited peeing but nothing too much. It wasn’t a bad journey really, but I was very happy when my work was done and we could hand him over to his new humans. I really am missing Dad, but I was very happy to be back to being just Mum and me today. Being a responsible adult can be very stressful.
Gilets Jaunes
The protesters are still on the roundabout in Laon in France. There aren’t as many now and they didn’t stop all the traffic, but they still had a fire going on one corner and Mum was very happy when we had gone past them. It’s not very nice when you’re travelling and you meet things like that.

Hello Wilma
Your sister Valeria yesterday gave birth to GALILEO, GARIBALDI, GINGER, GIOIA, GROMIT, GLADYS, and GRAZIELLA. She started with Galileo at 1pm, and our vet helped Graziella to meet us at 1155 pm. Graziella has to be taken care of especially (because she refused to come out for a long time …), but we think now she’s here we might be able to help her make it. All the others are in very good shape – and very pretty all of them are, too.
It’s great to watch a competent mother at work. And your sister is one!

We can now be reasonably sure that Graziella is “über dem Berg”, as we say here when the worst is behind us. Another German expression is “wir haben die Talsohle durchschritten”. What means that we have the nadir left behind and from from now on there’s nothing but up an up up ….
Two expressions meaning the same thing and using completely different metaphors.
