Flyscreen
We have a flyscreen on the sliding door in our house in Switzerland. Or to be more correct, we had a flyscreen. I had gone outside with Mum for a toilet stop and Shadow was in the lounge with Dad. Then she thought she’d like to join us, but she didn’t see the flyscreen was closed and just ran straight through it. She was mortified when she realised what she’d done. She wasn’t hurt, but despite her best endeavours Mum can’t repair it. The worst part is that until it’s repaired, to go outside we are going to have to go down a floor to get to the front door and then up the outside garden steps to get to the garden. Living on a hill side does have good views, but it means walking up an awful lot of stairs in the day.
Italian Drivers
We didn’t set off for Italy until part way through yesterday. Mum and us girls had been up for hours, but Dad had stayed in bed for a while. Anyway, the first part of the drive was quite normal. Then we went through a tunnel that was over 10 miles long! It was very strange, although compared to the driving when we got to Italy it was absolutely fine. Mum had told me her previous experiences of Italian drivers, but I don’t think I really believed her. She said I should imagine what it would be like to give Aristotle keys to a car and free rein to drive as he liked. I didn’t really believe her until yesterday. I didn’t know whether to ask if I could try my paw or close my eyes. Mum said she had her eyes closed and she was driving.
Lake Como
We are staying near Lake Como, but Mum said she preferred the lake we went to sit by in Switzerland yesterday. I’m sure it’s very nice here, but it’s too busy and there are too many houses and cars. We all prefer things a bit more unspoiled than this. Oh there’s a nice Lake and some impressive hills, but I’m a Swiss girl at heart and it’s just not like home. I was really sad that Switzerland went out of the football, but at least Alfie will be happy that Belgium is still in. And of course Shadow and Aristotle can carry on cheering for England, though it was a close run thing!
