Better News
I think we have some better news. Well the day didn’t end quite as badly yesterday as we thought it might. Our Master was sent on a late flight with another airline and made it to Switzerland before the end of the day. We really want to wish him all the luck in the world as he starts his new job today.
It was all a bit emotional yesterday morning as he came round and said goodbye to each of the four of us before our Mistress took him to the station. I know he didn’t actually say the words, but I think we were both wondering how many times we’ll see each other again.
Vet Check
Today is my check up after my operation. It was supposed to be with the vet that did the operation, but as they are 50 miles away and 10 of those are on minor roads, our Mistress decided it would be better for me to see our own vet, who are only one mile away. My eye is still very red and a bit swollen, so we need to see what my vet says. I’m just hoping the car will start ok as our Mistress has said I have to walk otherwise. Now I know I can do a mile, at least I could last autumn, but when you are my age and the weather is this cold and snowy it probably isn’t such a good idea.
Apart from that, I have no intention of going anywhere until the weather warms up a little. My old bones are not so good when the temperature is below freezing the whole time. I know I’m a mountain dog, but I’m an old mountain dog and even we are allowed to retire and spend our twilight by the fireside.

We are so pleased your Dad has arrived safely in Switzerland. He looked after me for a while when I was a puppy so I have fond memories of him. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR NEW JOB. Sometimes it is difficult when you start something new as I know from training but I am sure he will be fine. Hope you get on OK at the Vets. We have a little snow here already today. I have just popped out for a quick comfort break and came in with a white back! Keep warm and cosy . Lots of love Dickens X
Oh Dickens. I think our village is cut off. I don’t think I’ll be going to the vet. There are snow drifts everywhere and cars and lorries are stuck in them.
Our Mistress will have to take Wilma out for a walk and try to photograh it all. Even without the drifts we’ve not had rather more than six inches.
