Wednesday 5th July 2017 – A happy Shadow

There is nothing like a happy Shadow. When she is a happy dog she smiles and bounces and makes everyone around her do the same. Of course, when she’s in a bad mood it’s best to stay clear, but thankfully yesterday was a smiley day. She went swimming with me in the morning. She went in first and she is starting to really enjoy it. Then our Mistress gave her a lovely surprise by presenting her with her new dressing gown to wear while I had my swim. She loves it. She said she likes the colour, is thrilled it has her name embroidered on the side and more than anything it feels really nice to wear. It did make me wonder if I’d like a towelling one too, but I’ve got a fleece for when I come out of swimming in the winter and asking for another seems a little greedy. Our Mistress made her promise not to show it to Wilma until she is given hers for her birthday, so as not to spoil the surprise. Shadow wanted to keep it on when she got home but our Mistress made her take it off so it could dry.

I find swimming does me good mentally as well as physically. I know I make a fuss about getting into the water, but I do enjoy it. It’s one of my safe places where I don’t feel on edge and worry. There’s a new puppy there called Phoebe and I don’t even mind her. I do need to leave before the next dog arrives, but apart from that I find the whole thing very enjoyable. I think I’d even go as far as to say I’d go more often if I possibly could, particularly if it meant I could eat more as a result.

  1. Oh wow, Alfie, do tell Shadow she looks so classy, that’ll please her! And I’m glad you’re enjoying the swimming, it’s so good for you! Hugs xx

    • Ha ha if I tell Shadow she looks classy she’s going to get ideas of self-importance. I think I’ll keep it to myself. I know what she can be like.
      Have a lovely day
