It has never ceased to amaze me the trauma that socks can cause. Every week our Mistress does the washing and every week, as far as I can tell, our humans wear an even number of socks. Somehow, every week an odd number of socks come out of the washing process. Is this something like the story of the trolls under the bridge who always want a payment for crossing the bridge? Except in this case the trolls are a washing machine and the payment required is a sock. I’ve also long since wondered why our Master chooses socks which are so difficult to pair. Our Mistress either has ones that are all the same colour, or ones that are so bright and different colours that it’s easy to find the partner. Our Master has socks that are apparently the same, except for a little flash of colour that is only subtly different. On one occasion pairing socks our Mistress committed the cardinal sin of randomly matching our Master’s socks. She’s only done it once! He wasn’t happy. She did point out if he was going to complain he could match his own socks, but she seems to take pity on him more often than not. Andy takes an altogether different approach. He simply wears whichever two socks come to hand, regardless of whether they are a) the same colour or b) even the same general type of sock. I just sit and watch and am grateful that no one ever developed the ridiculous notion of dogs wearing socks. Can you imagine having to find batches of four the same each time rather than pairs?
For the record, I’m still wearing the collar! I’m still an unhappy dog, but looking on the bright side at least I don’t have to waste my day pairing socks!

Hahaha, Alfie – do tell your Mistress that you can get laundry bags in places like John Lewis for just that. Our cat hasn’t lost a single sock in this house since she started using laundry bags! Hope the cone’s off soon. Hugs xx
Thank you. I’ll tell her.
Have a good day

Alfie maybe you could wear just one sock on your poorly leg and then you could take the cone off? Just a thought 🙂
I thought that was a good idea, but I’ve just suggested to our Mistress and she says it needs to get some air. Mind you, I’ve seen the holes in some of her socks so it probably would!
Have a woofly day
