Sunday 1st May 2016 – Mother / son time

Today Shadow and I are having some mother – son time. Of course, I’m happier about that than she is, but I know deep down she loves me really, she’s just not a demonstrative sort of mother. Our Mistress has taken Alfie and Wilma to Granny and Grandpa’s for the day and left us to look after my Master. At least I think she said it was that way round. She certainly told us where she had left everything before she went so we’d know the answers when he asked. To be fair, part of the reason was that he wasn’t exactly up when she went out but then she is prone to getting up a little on the early side – not always of her own choosing.

Alfie and Wilma will be having a quiet day trying to help our Mistress fix our grandparents’ computer. I’m guessing they will get some time to play in the back garden too, but I suspect Alfie will be happy just to let Granny scratch him behind the ears for a few hours. I was wondering if I could get Shadow to scratch me in all my favourite spots, but she’s already gone through the ‘I expect you to keep quiet and leave me to enjoy my chew in patch of sunshine’ conversation so I think I know my place. I’ve been wondering whether there’s some mischief I could get up to instead and am just waiting for the humans to leave one of the dog gates open so I can nip upstairs and see what I’m missing out on. I know it’s only  a matter of time before one or other of them does that, so as long as I stay quiet and let them forget I’m here there should be some fun to be had.
