Checking out the snow
Checking out the snow

It was minus 7 when we went out yesterday morning. Can you imagine as a dog having to go out to the toilet when it’s that cold? I can tell you it is not good! It didn’t get much better when the car wouldn’t start, but fortunately that was only a temporary problem. It did start in time to take my aunt to the station for the day trip she was going on while we came back to have a quiet day. Our Mistress is feeling very tired and wants a bit of a break, so has said that we’ll have a quiet couple of days.

At the pet shop Wilma said she’d like the green fluorescent harness, but they didn’t have her size. She was very good and smiled and said could she have pink then. Unfortunately they didn’t have her size in pink either. She has ended up with white and black in the reverse pattern to Aristotle’s. He will be thrilled when he finds out. She chose a blue collar, which

probably doesn’t go with the harness but they didn’t have one that matched. Then we both chose some biscuits. I cleared the shelf of all the malt and vanilla ones and our Mistress found some similar mini ones for Wilma so we both came away with our tails wagging. I’ve got four bags so they should keep me going for a while.

We had separate walks. Our Mistress wanted to start to do a little training with Wilma. As it turned out, I was feeling all out of sorts and didn’t want to walk further away than the house than I could still see it. More to the point it was the car I still wanted to see. I’m finding getting old is very hard and very stressful and I’ve said it may be best if this is the last time I come abroad. Anyway, once I’d got back I asked if I could sit in the car while our Mistress took Wilma. I feel safe there, even though the engine wouldn’t start this morning. Wilma’s walk was harder work. She was not sure about leaving where she was used to and was trying to run home, making getting her to walk to heel a bit of a challenge. There is going to be a period of adjustment for all of us.
