There I was having a nice Sunday morning lie in, when my Mistress insisted she would take our photo all cuddled up in bed. I think it is a bit if an invasion of privacy, but she then told me I should share it with you to show what a snuggly dog I am. I did insist she got up when I started to feel hungry.
Shadow should now be at the end of her first trimester of pregnancy. Both my Master and Mistress say they are going to be very surprised if she is not pregnant. At Christmas it was the other way round and our Mistress was quite sure she wasn’t pregnant long before she went for her scan. This time is completely different. Shadow is sleeping and resting so much more than normal and is being wonderful and gentle. You should see her coat it’s in the most amazing condition. A friend contacted our Mistress to say her dog is only expecting one puppy, which can be a worry as it if it is too big the birth can be difficult. Our Mistress said that from how Shadow is she would not be at all surprised if she is in for quite a big litter, although that can have a completely different set of problems. To say that Shadow is being treated like a queen is an understatement, it only makes me wish that boys could be pregnant! Mind you, I do get to lick out Shadow’s yoghurt pots so it is not all bad.
Our Mistress was talking to Shadow about what she would like as her retirement present once she has finished with this litter. Originally she said she would like her own little dog cart and to take up dog carting in her retirement, but since she hurt her leg nobody seems to think that is such a good idea. I nudged the Orvis catalogue towards her and told her to look at the pages I’d turned the corners down on. I wondered if we could get some sort of discount if we bulk ordered.
