Sunday 19th July 2015 – Never Again

Now I don’t know what our Mistress is implying… or saying quite definitively… but she says that once she doesn’t have Alfie and me she will never again have male dogs when there are breeding bitches in the house. She relented and said one might be ok, which is good for the males of our species, but she seems to be saying that our behaviour around Shadow is appalling and driving her mad. It’s me mainly, although that is leading to Alfie barking in self defence. I may not be entire, but Shadow’s hormones are making me feel the need to be dominant in everything, including taking a yoghurt pot from Alfie by force! I don’t know what came over me. It’s all the hormones. At least by the time our puppy gets to an age of maturity I shall be a little older myself and hopefully a little more in control of my behaviour.

Our human maternal aunt is planning to walk 50km to raise money for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. She hasn’t invited any of us to walk with her, but given neither Alfie nor I could walk that far and Shadow will be about to have puppies then I guess we forgive her for that. We thought you might like to sponsor her to encourage her on her way and because it’s such a good cause as it not only helps people who are hearing impaired but also gives work to dogs, which has to be a good thing as there are so few jobs for us that are acceptable. This is what our aunt has said:

“I’ve chosen hearing dogs as my charity because I’m fascinated by the way dogs can be trained to help people with disabilities and in particular those with hearing loss. As many of you know I have profound hearing loss on one side (ie completely deaf!) and moderate to severe hearing loss on the other boosted by a hearing aid but I manage fairly well (apart from not being able to hear my alarm clock or knowing the direction sounds are coming from!). So I’m combining my admiration for the jobs these dogs do with my love of walking and have set myself a challenge to walk further in a day than I’ve ever walked before! Your sponsorship will encourage me every step of the way!” You can find her page here https://www.justgiving.com/mags763/

Shadow is all packed and ready to set off tomorrow. Our Mistress hasn’t started her packing yet, but I guess she has more to take. For Shadow the most important things were her papers that have to be checked and completed and her food and those are definitely ready and she’s getting excited.

  1. Just a note to wish Shadow Good Luck on her trip tomorrow. I hope she enjoys her holiday and all goes well when she meets her boyfriend! I have all my paws crossed.
Love Dickens X and all the family X

  2. Thanks, Dickens. She seems excited. I really want to go as our mum’s protection, but she’s told me that won’t be necessary!
    Love Ari.
