Thursday 16th July 2015 – The year planned out

Now I know we are only half way through the year, but if things go to plan we’ve pretty much got the year planned out at this end. Of course things don’t usually go according to plan, but this is real life and not fiction so there is no author to throw in every twist and turn imaginable to impede the progress of our hero. In real life it’s only usually most of the disasters that take place, rather than all of them. Shadow has had her chip checked ready to travel. Since the time the chip failed after her first mating our Mistress has been insistent that we go to the vet and have the chip check recorded on the system, otherwise if it fails the insurers don’t cover our costs. You only have that go wrong once, to ensure you don’t fall foul of it again. The insurers say it has to have been checked within 14 days of travel.  Anyway, her chip is fine. It doesn’t mean nothing will go wrong but it does mean she is insured if it does.

Hormone levels are running high and quite honestly Aristotle and I are hell to live with at the moment. Shadow is being beautifully calm and serene, which is more than can be said for us. She has been busy getting all maternal on us and washing Aristotle’s ears, even when she only did them an hour ago! She hates wearing her dog pants, but needs must or she isn’t allowed in any of the house that has carpets. She accepts it with a moderately good grace, but does make her feelings on the subject known. Our Mistress has told her she needs to focus on being fit and well so she is at her best for her new boyfriend, but whatever she does I think he’s going to notice the limp!

I started to tell you about the year and then got side-tracked, anyway our Mistress already has a note of when Shadow is likely to have her scan and when the puppies would be due and when they would need to go to their homes. All of that is so that she can work out when she would be able to take me to meet our new puppy and bring her home, which will be in time for Christmas. Christmas is always more fun with a youngster around to show some real excitement so hopefully this year will be an extra special one.
