Shadow is still not giving anything away. My Mistress has sat down with her and said that ‘now would be good’. Of course that probably means Shadow will do something completely different. As gaps in the diary go, this one would work and our Mistress would be back in time for the next big event which is our breeding test. She really doesn’t want to be away for that, mainly because she’s organising it, but you know what Shadow is like. At least now I think it means that any puppies won’t be born on our Mistress’s 50th birthday, for which I think she is grateful.
Dickens, who is one of Shadow’s sons from her second litter (Bumble) sent us a lovely letter and photograph the other day. He went to a dog show and didn’t behave very well but had his photo taken afterwards and we all think he looks very handsome. We’ve framed it and put it up on the office wall. Shadow can be very proud of just how good looking her children are. She sent a copy to their dad so he could see it too and he was very pleased with it. She also saw that her uncle has just won best of breed in a show in a show in Finland so was quite thrilled about that too. She thought she looked rather like him. He’s her mother’s brother. She has got over her disappointment at not doing so well in the show in the Netherlands and is starting to say she’d like to have another go now she’s not limping so much. Rather her than me, that’s all I can say! I think she might do better now to wait until after her next birthday and enter the ‘veteran’ classes!
