Today is my human grandpa\u2019s 89th<\/sup> birthday and I can\u2019t wait to see him later this week. I\u2019m very close to my grandparents as they remind me so much of my Mistress. I should have saved him a piece of my birthday cake. Despite what Aristotle said, I really did enjoy my birthday cake and I\u2019m not just saying that because of my Mistress. Ask him if I wasn\u2019t prepared to try to eat the piece out of his bowl when we finished it off on Friday and I wouldn\u2019t normally have the courage to steal food out of anyone else\u2019s bowl!<\/p>\n

Today is exciting as we have a wood delivery coming and that means lots of time outside helping to stack wood. It may also mean a fair bit of swearing and one or two bruises but hopefully only on the part of our Mistress. She had the sense (so she thought at the time) of ordering a double load so that it would last her through the winter, but now that she\u2019s faced with stacking it she\u2019s wondering if she might have preferred to do it in two separate loads.<\/p>\n

She broke the news to me on Friday about my medication. I can stay on the top dose on an ongoing basis. I was relieved and said \u2018That\u2019s good then.\u2019 However then came the \u2018but\u2019, I\u2019m going to have to have a blood test every three months to make sure it is not affecting my kidneys. I know that she has to have regular blood tests, but that\u2019s different. For a start she\u2019s not afraid of needles and secondly her veins are easy to find. Mine are covered by fur and that\u2019s before you even get to the fact that I have low blood pressure so it comes out really slowly. What is a dog to do? She says I\u2019ll get used to it, but I\u2019m not so sure. I\u2019ve got past feeling weak just at the sight of the needle, but I\u2019m not sure I\u2019m ready for this.<\/p>\n
