I have been told to write out one hundred times \u2018I am a stubborn dog\u2019, and I\u2019m not allowed to use the computer to make it easy. I plead that it was not my fault. If she will persist in making me go for a walk when I\u2019m not really in the mood, she\u2019s only got herself to blame for anything that follows. Following our little \u2018discussion\u2019 about where we go for walks, I agreed to go back to the airfield as long as I could walk along the other path than the one we had been doing. It seemed a reasonable request and everything started out beautifully. I was happy, my Mistress was happy. What could be nicer? Then it started to rain. Now if there is one thing that swimming has taught me, it is that water is not something to be frightened of. My Mistress turned round and said we\u2019d go back to the car. I stopped and said, \u2018No, you agreed I could walk this way round the airfield and I want to finish my walk.\u2019 She of course relented and despite the increasingly heavy rain, for which neither of us had a coat, we carried on\u2026 until we got to the furthest point, when I said, \u2018I\u2019ve had enough.\u2019 You could almost see the steam coming out of my Mistress\u2019s ears. She does not often speak sharply to me, but I must admit she was not best pleased on this occasion. \u2018And how exactly do you think we are going to get back to the car?\u2019 That was her, not me. We were standing in overgrown grass, getting very wet with a rather large buzzy thing repeatedly trying to settle on her neck and I have to say I did not know the answer to the question. She had no choice but to cajole me into moving, and I have to say I was very glad she did as it was only a couple of minutes after we\u2019d got home that the thunder started and the rain became very heavy. \u2018Look on the bright side,\u2019 I said, \u2018at least you won\u2019t have to water the garden!\u2019<\/p>\n
