The Post Office staff were a little surprised by the extent of my Mistress\u2019s celebrations when it turned out they had her gloves. She was delighted to be reunited with them and most effusive in her thanks and gratitude. I guess lost gloves and other paraphernalia are an everyday occurrence for them and maybe most people aren\u2019t quite so attached to their gloves as my Mistress is. Their dog, child, purse or husband maybe but not their gloves. Of course I doubt that many dogs, children or husbands are inadvertently left in the Post Office but you can never be too sure. My Mistress being the way she is, she had prioritised the most likely places to have left the miscreant gloves and the Post Office was the second place on her list. Sometimes I think she knows herself too well.<\/p>\n
On her way home from the glove collection she bought the replacement apple tree. She has opted for a rather nice looking Bramley and I have had to promise faithfully not to pee anywhere near it. I tried the \u2018It could have been Aristotle\u2019 routine, but both of us know that Aristotle doesn\u2019t cock his leg when he pees so short of him learning to stand up on his hind legs to pee, it is not particularly likely. It will be planted today and then surrounded with canes as an obstacle to my getting too close. Of course no one has actually said I can\u2019t pee on the canes!<\/p>\n
Having moaned that spring had gone it did come back, although not as warm as we would like. There is an optimal temperature from our point of view \u2013 warm enough to have the back door open but cool enough to enjoy running round the back garden. I\u2019m not being too restrictive. There is a range which is permissible from about 15 \u2013 22 degrees. Below that we don\u2019t get our wish of the door being open and above that I just want to sleep.<\/p>\n
