Today\u2019s weigh in is a significant one for Cosette. Having lost weight yesterday we need to know if she is back on track. And she is! She has gained 120g and is now 1210g. When she was presented with a bottle yesterday morning she started drinking as though she hadn\u2019t had food in a week. The problem is that is she is not strong enough to fight the big ones off the better teats. Cuddles only gained 40g to reach 1060g, but as she had had a bigger gain the day before that is not something to be worried about. Cracker and Cinderella both added 100g \u2013 Cracker is now 1360g and Cinderella 1300g. Casanove pushed the boat out and added 130g to become 1400g and make him the largest in the litter and Chekov was the only one who didn\u2019t have a good day. He only added 10g to reach 1340g. The problem for Chekov is that until now he has been the biggest and strongest and has always managed to make the most of what milk Shadow did have. Now however he does need to learn to bottle feed and he isn\u2019t liking it so much. He is going to have some one-to-one time with his mother at their next feed. Actually it will be two-to-one as Cuddle is going to be joining them too. The pups are generally in the range of expected weights based on previous litters so all is well. They are likely to start overtaken last year\u2019s litter in the next few days as this is the point at which last year Shadow started being quite poorly and at that stage we had less to compare with and didn\u2019t realise there was a problem. Last year\u2019s were still much heavier than the year before. It was only when we put together the picture of total weight gain by day for the litter that we could see the picture clearly.<\/p>\n
