From where I sat on the sofa it was an interesting little cameo of how creatures react. An overfed pigeon mistook the open back door for an invitation to come in and flew into the office. The office goes up into the eaves above the garage so has quite a high ceiling for flying space. However as soon as the pigeon couldn’t get out of the first roof window it tried it panicked. At the same time, realising she was going to have to get the pigeon out, my Mistress panicked. Shadow thinking it was an opportunity for an extra meal, was quickly on the spot and once the pigeon had flown the length of the office, headbutted the big window and descended in a heap on the floor Shadow was on top of it in a minute. To be fair to my Mistress she pulled herself together pretty quickly and shouted at Shadow to ‘leave’ – all credit to Shadow she only had to be yelled at twice before stepping away from the pigeon, her mouth still open wide. Ari simply went up and sniffed it and was a little surprised to be flapped at. My Mistress opened the big windows, grabbed one of our towels and went to pick up the pigeon to help it out. It flapped out of her hands. Rather amusingly she shouted ‘stay’ at the point, forgetting it wasn’t as well trained as we are! On a third attempt she held it firmly enough to stop it getting agitated, picked it up and lifted it to the open window where it flew off as fast as it’s little wings would carry it. Ari kept going to the spot where it had been and Shadow sulked. My Mistress needed five minutes to calm down and then all returned to normal. Just another day in the office.

Alfie Dog with a little help from Rosemary J Kind alfie@alfiedog.me.uk

Alfie’s Diary – the Book is available at Amazon UK –https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00583ZGSA

You can find short stories to read at www.alfiedog.com

Of course, you may need to be a certain age or live with someone who has played you the cartoon to understand the title of […]

[3
63,27
post-7837","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-day-to-day-life","tag-aristotle","tag-shadow","post_format-post-format-gallery
["GET
