She has remembered to make sure we have sufficient dog food as well as food for the rest of the family. What she hasn’t managed to work out yet is who’s going to cook it. Aristotle has been banned from the kitchen, so that rules him out. To be fair he has been much more inclined to clean the pans after cooking rather than doing the cooking itself. I suggested that Shadow would be the best bet, as she is less food orientated than the rest of us. She often sits on one of the dining chairs, so we could move one over to the cooker to enable her to reach the pans. Sadly, my Mistress is less convinced that she is bright enough to follow a recipe. Which leaves my Master! He’s definitely bright enough to follow a recipe, but as with any other instructions he prefers to make it up as he goes along. In my experience with cooking that only works if you know what you are doing. My Master does not!

I’ve been thinking about the horse meat scandal. Whilst I realise there are many areas to be concerned about, what I want to know is whether horse meat can be eaten rare? It’s quite safe to eat beef even when it’s uncooked, and if horse meat has been substituted for beef I was wondering whether that was a risk that people were not cooking it long enough. I realise there are many other concerns that I should have and that I should support Neddy, but of dog’s got to be practical.

We talked to Megan yesterday, she says she is having a great holiday in Switzerland and is planning to stay a little longer. In reality her season is proving unpredictable once again and we still have no idea when she is going to see the stud dog. I’m just crossing my pores that it works this time.

Alfie Dog with a little help from Rosemary J Kind alfie@alfiedog.me.uk

Alfie’s Diary – the Book is available at Amazon UK –https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00583ZGSA

You can find short stories to read at www.alfiedog.com

The only good thing about my Mistress’s operation being delayed by a week is that this time round she is far more prepared.
