The Jury\u2019s out on today\u2019s activities. It wouldn\u2019t have been so bad if they hadn\u2019t got so wet yesterday. If it hadn\u2019t been for that they might have had more of an appetite for getting wet today. I think we are waiting to see how the weather looks before we go out.<\/p>\n
I think it is safe to say that yesterday was probably the first and last time that a school photograph could be blamed for spoiling the marmalade. In her usual, trying to fit more things than there are hours in the day, my Mistress decided to bake a cake and make marmalade as well as going for Andy\u2019s jubilee school photograph. None of that may sound unusual except my Mistress can\u2019t eat eggs, or wheat flour or margarine or butter, basically the usual ingredients of a cake. She had this bright idea of substituting rice flour, egg substitute \u2013 so far so good \u2013 and olive oil! Now olive oil has quite strong taste of olives. Oh she added vanilla essence and coffee, but basically it was an olive sponge cake. Ok if you like olives, but it\u2019s never going to be a commercial success. Meanwhile back at the marmalade it was left to boil while they went to the school jubilee photo. Except that instead of being out for half an hour they were gone for about an hour and a half and in that time an awful lot of boiling can take place and there wasn\u2019t so much left a there was supposed to be. Now if you\u2019ve ever seen my Mistress in a bad mood, you\u2019ll have some idea of how she looked yesterday. She had been standing outside in the rain for over an hour while a photographer tried to organise a group of people to take precisely six photos. Actually to be precise he took two photos three times and even then it was basically of the same group of people. It is fair to say she was unhappy before even considering the state of her beloved marmalade. Anyway, with a little tender loving care she seemed to have resurrected it, but as they say, the proof of the marmalade is in the whisky!<\/p>\n
