Now, I\u2019m sorry, I\u2019ve heard on the news that parts of the country are in drought, but frankly I find it rather hard to believe. I have sat watching it raining for several days without any sign of relenting. I have watched my Mistress come home from her walks looking like a drowned rat and ordering new waterproofing material for her coat. I have watched the birds bathing in an overfull bird bath. I have crossed my legs for extended periods of time so that I don\u2019t have to go out in the rain. None of these things are indications of a drought. Oh I know you are going to tell me that we did have some dry weather a few weeks ago, but quite honestly it is almost completely faded from my memory. Any thoughts of opening up the summerhouse have been cast aside. The garden looks overgrown and unloved and the car is so mud splattered I\u2019ve forgotten what colour it was. Anyway, I don\u2019t feel the need to bath with a friend just yet, or for that matter bath at all if I can help it.<\/p>\n
We are back to the whole \u2018instructions for while I\u2019m away\u2019 thing. Mine are fairly simple. I have to take Aristotle to kennels and look after him until we can come home. I\u2019m a bit fed up as Shadow is staying at home this time and if it weren\u2019t for Aristotle I could do that too. But you know how it is. He doesn\u2019t want to go to kennels on his own and he isn\u2019t well enough behaved to be left at home unattended for a few hours at a time. He\u2019s so bright, he\u2019d probably work out how to find the spare house keys and nip off out when he felt like it. The scariest thing about him is that because of his elbow problem he is using his back legs more and more and is almost at the point of being able to walk on two legs. Isn\u2019t it amazing how the body can compensate for weakness?<\/p>\n
