You\u2019d be in a bad mood if you\u2019d got a trapped nerve, but do I get any sympathy? Ok so I\u2019ve done nothing but grumble for the last week and I can understand it might be wearing a bit thin, even I\u2019m fed up with it, but I\u2019m completely out of sorts. This growing older lark can be pretty hard to take at times. There you are, surrounded by bright young things who are full of the joys of spring and all you want to do is be left quietly on your own somewhere warm and comfortable. I\u2019ve argued with Megan. I\u2019ve argued with my Mistress. I\u2019ve even caught myself starting arguments with my reflection. My Mistress thinks it\u2019s the tablets and she says if I get any worse she\u2019s going to ring the vet to see if I can stop taking them. Then she goes and mentions that I\u2019ve got a day in kennels on Thursday. It isn\u2019t that I can\u2019t be looked after and therefore it would be for my own benefit. I can just about stomach those occasions. This is purely because Aristotle needs to get used to the idea of staying in kennels for when my Mistress goes away and I have to go to look after him and make him feel ok about it. What if I don\u2019t want to? \u2018Oh Alfie, you\u2019re an adult, you should take responsibility.\u2019 Hmpph. I\u2019m a dog. I\u2019m a pet and I should be pampered. Yes, I know I wanted a puppy of my own. Yes, I know I said I\u2019d look after him, but I didn\u2019t really expect to be held to my word. I suppose there\u2019s a lesson in there somewhere, I just can\u2019t be bothered to go looking for it. At least Aristotle is now six months old and well on the way to being an adult. And I suppose looking on the bright side he will be around to look after me in his old age. In the meantime, I\u2019m off to find a quiet corner to grumble in.<\/p>\n
