Aristotle is reaching that difficult age where he\u2019s starting to ask questions. In his case it isn\u2019t the birds and the bees but more the bitches and the dogs. What do I say to one so young? It reminds me of when I was young and didn\u2019t know why the vet kept prodding and poking me. Then one of my friends was \u2018on heat\u2019 and was suddenly very playful and I asked her why sitting somewhere warm had had that effect. Then she told me. I didn\u2019t know where to put myself. That\u2019s not the sort of thing a young puppy needs to hear, so what am I supposed to tell Ari? His mother is in the early stages of coming into season and once again hormones are running high in the house and the boy needs to know.<\/p>\n

So far I\u2019ve got as far as showing him a picture of his dad, Rino and telling him that his mum and dad had to spend some time together in Switzerland, but beyond that bit I don\u2019t know<\/p>\n

what to say next. It\u2019s times like this I wish Rino were here. This really should be a father to son type conversation. It particularly seems unfair that I\u2019m having to have it when I was totally deprived of the stud dog role by my medical condition. I did wonder if my Mistress would be better at explaining, but she just sat at her desk working. I know she was listening as she had an amused expression on her face that seemed to increase the more uncomfortable I became. I did wonder whether it should be Shadow that told him, but from what my Mistress said Shadow was more shocked about what was involved when it came to it than you would expect and clearly hadn\u2019t been told herself what it all entailed. I just need to take a deep breath and get on with it.<\/p>\n
