At last the serious business of insulating the summerhouse has begun. For some strange reason, my Mistress has decided to try out the puppy pen by putting it in a square around the front of the summerhouse so we can\u2019t help. If she\u2019s going to be like that about it, she needn\u2019t come running to me when she can\u2019t lift one of the panels and needs help moving it. I know what you\u2019re going to say. I\u2019m a dog and as a result I won\u2019t stick to that resolution. All she will have to do is smile at me and I\u2019ll be there faithfully by her side to help and you\u2019re probably right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We start with these high ideals but all we really want is the approval of our humans. She\u2019s well aware of that too. She has been reading dog books. The problem is that these books give her ideas and then we are subjected to her amateur dog psychology. She skips the bits that criticise people viewing dogs as their children, which I\u2019m relieved about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Cesar might know a great deal about dogs he is missing a trick when it comes to how much some of us enjoy taking on the role of surrogate child. It might not be good for every dog, but some of us, myself included, want nothing more than to be taken care of in this way. I will respond completely to being allowed to snuggle up in bed and given all the love and affection in the world. I will respond in kind. I agree it doesn\u2019t work for all of us, but then no two humans are the same either. I\u2019m a softy and I will do anything for love and a bit of food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
