I have been telling Shadow that if she eats everything she can find, then she is going to have an upset stomach. Diarrhoea isn’t much fun to clean up after, not that I had to do it. My Mistress was selected for that job. The question is, did it teach her a lesson. Sadly, the answer would be an emphatic no. As soon as she got the chance she was out eating the nearest shrub she could find. There was some good news in the garden this morning. Some of the grass that my Mistress has planted has started to grow. It isn’t very thick at the moment, but it is at least grass. Now the trick will be for my Mistress to plant it into one of the holes and hope that Shadow doesn’t dig it back up before it has chance to take hold.

I’m thinking that the grass in the field behind our house is almost long enough for the sheep to come back for a while. Shadow has met them before but she was quite small at the time, so I wonder how she will react to them. The way she grazes the hedge, you would think she is trying to pretend to be one. Maybe that’s where she got the idea in the first place. We’ll miss the sheep when we move. I wonder what the possibility is of getting a sheep to come round to visit our back garden periodically. It would be good to keep in touch with them after we move.

It was going to happen sooner or later, but it still didn’t make it any more pleasant to deal with.
