Dad will be home next week and phase one of operation apple will be in full swing. This is the point where our priorities and Dad\u2019s take different paths. Dad will be sorting out the apples for winter storage, cider making and apple that will be frozen, but all of that will be intended for human consumption. Thankfully, from our point of view, operation apple will be in two parts. The second part won\u2019t start until later in October as not all the trees will be ready at the same time. The bad news is that as far as I understand, the ones that will be ready first all my favourites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve been considering my options. Dogs are notorious for burying the things we want to hide. I\u2019ve that about that option, but I fear it won\u2019t work with apples. I could help myself from the trays of apples that Dad puts away for the winter, but that would mean getting the key to where he stores them and I would most likely be noticed. The next option is eat as many as I can now, but I\u2019m doing that anyway. We\u2019ve already tried hiding them in our crates, but Mum has a very keen sense of smell and can always tell we\u2019ve done it. The only other possibility is to persuade Mum that some of what is frozen or set aside should be shared with us. Ari says we should put a bid in for the cider, but I think that\u2019s more his domain than mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the bright side, it will be great to have Dad around. Although by choice I\u2019d have both Dad and a ready supply of apples. I guess if I really have to choose, it would be Dad every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
