Badby Woods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Badby woods<\/a> was just as amazing as Everdon Stubbs had been. It\u2019s a site of special scientific interest, so you do need to stay on a lead, but that\u2019s safer for wildlife when you\u2019re in a forest anyway. It\u2019s a proper wood that goes on for ages. A big central path goes pretty much straight from the front of the wood to the back. We stayed on that so we didn\u2019t get lost! If I\u2019m being honest, I\u2019m not the one that tends to get lost but that\u2019s another story. It\u2019s not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs, not a made up path, just muddy woodland floor. There was quite a hill too, which was good exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robin Hood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mum was imagining it being the sort of place that Robin Hood and Maid Marion might have liked. I think she had visions of wandering into the depths among the trees and shooting at people who went past with a bow and arrow \u2013 although I could be misjudging the situation. I think she had in mind that it was a good way to get away from the whole covid thing. She\u2019s finding that all quite stressful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entrance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I think the entrance is more a folly than part of an old wall. It didn\u2019t look as though it had ever been connected anyway. Mum seems to want something like that in our garden when we move, but I really don\u2019t understand why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was strange as we walked was that every so often we\u2019d hear rustling in the undergrowth and know that we weren\u2019t alone. We just didn\u2019t know who, or more to the point what, we were sharing the forest with. I was all in favour of going to sniff it out, but Mum wouldn\u2019t let me. She can be a spoilsport at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
