{"id":23883,"date":"2021-08-27T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-27T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/?p=23883"},"modified":"2021-08-27T06:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-08-27T05:00:00","slug":"everdon-stubbs-friday-27th-august-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alfiesdiary.uk\/index.php\/2021\/08\/27\/everdon-stubbs-friday-27th-august-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Everdon Stubbs &#8211; Friday 27th August 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Everdon Stubbs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday I went for a lovely woodland walk at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodlandtrust.org.uk\/visiting-woods\/woods\/everdon-stubbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Everdon Stubbs<\/a>. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve seen Mum grin so much in a very long time. She loves woodlands as much as I do, but it is the first woodland walk we\u2019ve been on since before she broke her ankle \u2013 21 months ago! The woodland is owned by the Woodland Trust and doesn\u2019t have any facilities except a small parking area and a few benches to sit on as you go around. There are some boards with a little information about the woods and some markers telling you what type of trees they are. It is great for us as it is only about a mile from where we\u2019re staying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is it special?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you love old oak trees and other native deciduous species then you will love it. The most important thing to take with you is a good sense of direction. The routes are clear but not really signposted. Mum decided we\u2019d largely stick to the perimeter paths so we didn\u2019t get lost and even then she did have a slight wobble as to whether we were on the right path to get back to the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_1509-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/alfiedog.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_1509-edited-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23885\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I found a wonderful den made of branches and would have been quite happy for us to have to stay there for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Just you and nature<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn\u2019t a busy place, which made it totally perfect. We saw another couple of cars arrive, but they must have gone for a walk the other side of the woods. Other than that we met one dog and owner as we went around. It is a great opportunity to be just you and the nature around. I obviously wanted to try the muddy spots, but Mum wouldn\u2019t let me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We loved it.
