I know most of the time, dear canine friends, I talk to you first and foremost. Today is for your humans. You will thank me, honestly. So, humans, listen up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve been worried letting us sleep in your bedmakes you are a bad person this is for you. I am here to reassure you that it\u2019s absolutely fine. No, better than that. It is good for you to let us sleep in your bed with you. I\u2019m not just being biased. Hear me out. I\u2019m sure you will all agree that having us in your beds is a good thing. Commonly nicknamed \u2018the love hormone\u2019 or the \u2018the cuddle hormone\u2019, oxytocin is released when you look at your dog &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/canine-corner\/201310\/do-dogs-have-the-look-love\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">and the feeling is mutual.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>So if just looking at your dog makes you happier, imagine what having a cuddle will do.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Dogs make you feel safer<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.policyexpert.co.uk\/pets\/dogs-make-people-feel-safer-but-they-can-slash-a-homes-value\/#:~:text=Dog%20owners%20feel%20safer%20and,feelings%20of%20security%20at%20all.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey carried out by Policy Expert<\/a> showed that 41% of people feel safer due to owning a dog, and 75% feel as if owning a dog reduces the likelihood of their house being broken into.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You\u2019re at your most vulnerable when you\u2019re in bed, especially if you live alone &#8211; so it\u2019s guaranteed that you\u2019ll feel safer if you have your pooch snuggled up beside you &#8211; that feeling of safety and security is also bound to result in a good night&#8217;s sleep too!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Dogs can ease stress and anxiety<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Hard day at the office? When we climb into bed at night, we have a tendency to worry and overthink &#8211; which results in a not-so-great night&#8217;s sleep. Spending time with our dogs, whether it be taking them for a walk, or having them beside us in bed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purina.com\/articles\/dog\/getting-a-dog\/do-dogs-reduce-stress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">can lower our cortisol levels,<\/a> which is the hormone our body releases when we\u2019re stressed out<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Lower cortisol levels don\u2019t just come with mental health benefits either, physical too! Sleeping with us is definitely good for you and something you all need to look at doing.
